The Alberta Reginal Council is among some VERY major construction union donors who are helping Edmonton's Glenrose Hospital expand its horizons into the world of high-tech rehabilitation for disabled and/or injured patients.

The ARC, Local 488 Plumbers & Pipefitters and Local 146 Boilermakers have presented the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital with cheques for $500,000 each, and the Building Trades of Alberta Charitable Foundation added another $1 million from its lottery proceeds.

The money will enable the Glenrose to equip its new Courage Centre with technology like robotics, computer simulators and teleconferencing.

The Alberta Building Trades Council of Unions has joined the high-level legal challenge against the Alberta Labour Relations Code that has been launched by the Brotherhood, the Boilermakers, Plumbers & Pipefitters and Electrical Workers. The ABT has pledged financial support for the Supreme Court of Canada challenge.
