Executive Secretary Treasurer Message
If you don’t know much about the Alberta Regional Council of Carpenters, or the United Brotherhood of Carpenters as a whole, you’re in for a pleasant surprise.
We are a union, and we do firmly and fairly represent the interests of our 10,000+ members as we deal on their behalf with the contractor employers we’ve signed contracts with.
But we are also a modern, businesslike union, from the very top at our International Headquarters to our stewards on the jobsite.
We believe in delivering what our employers pay for.
In return for good wages, solid benefits and an employer commitment to both safety and fairness, we have a deep belief in our obligation to deliver quality.
We work efficiently and cost-effectively. We respect employers’ deadlines and budgets.
Our dedication to efficiency shows in our union’s commitment to training, both at the International level (we’ve spent more than US$ 30 million on our Las Vegas International Training Centre), and in Alberta (our new $21 million training centre is up, running and very impressive!). No UBC member pays anything to attend certification, training or upgrading courses at any training centre – and that includes travel and accommodation!
It does cost a little more to employ union construction workers. But the difference is far more than made up for in productivity, level of skill, and the pleasure of having the union supply the number of qualified people you need, then re-deploy them, when your needs reduce.
Our members are justly proud of themselves, their skills, their reputation and their union.
Whether you’re thinking of employing union members, or joining the union to help build your own Alberta dream, please give us a phone call:
