Dispatch Process

The Alberta regional Council of carpenters operates two interconnected systems for dispatching its members to jobsites, voicemail and internet. This page outlines the details of the voicemail process, and tells you how to register for online access to the dispatch system.

Voicemail Dispatch

Call between 5 PM and 6 AM weekdays, or anytime on the weekend.

Call only once per day or weekend

Making the call: 
Once connected, you will hear announcements and instructions on how to proceed.
Press numbers on the key pad to make choices.
Speak into phone to give information.

Key Pad selections:

press 5 to hear tomorrow's manpower requests
press 1 to register - new member or left job - getting on list
press 2 to bid - ask for specific jobs by number - already registered
press 3 to register and bid - both the above  - one call
press 4 to replay - announcements and instructions
Your voicemail operator will ask you for the following information:
(speak into phone in normal voice to respond)
•    Your UBC ID# - "U" followed by 2 sets of 4 numbers
      (Membership card example: U 1234 8765 )
•    Your first name (speak & spell it) and your last name (speak & spell it)
•    Phone # to be reached at the following day (if bidding)
•    Reason for registration: Laid off, quit, terminated, new member*
•    Last union employer: where you were working or new member **
•    Jobs you are bidding on:
Speak the numbers of the jobs you have an interest in, in order of preference - example 9, 4, 1, 22.
*if you are registering
**Only register ONCE between union jobs

Bidding jobs on the web is easy, but you have to register first so we can issue you a password to access the private Member's portion of our web site (click on image below for example of a sample day's Dispatch list).
