About Us

The Alberta Regional Council of Carpenters includes more than 10,000 members in four Locals:
We’re proudly affiliated with the 126-year-old, 550,000-member United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBC), North America’s second largest, and most progressive, building trade union. More than 50,000 of UBC members are Canadian.

UBC’s General President is Douglas J. McCarron, a man whom we truly regard as a visionary. Our Canadian Vice-President is James Smith.

The Alberta Regional Council of Carpenters leads the building trades in innovative leadership. We’ve reorganized to accommodate Alberta’s booming economy. With shared resources and central coordination, our Local unions are now much more efficient. They offer greater mobility, top-flight training and members who consistently complete projects safely, properly, on time and on budget.

We firmly believe that everyone should profit from the construction industry, and that includes both our members and their employers.

Our basic attitude to union-employer relations is one of partnership.
